Target Users 

Internal use – employees

 Background 

Data for new launch projects were input into the system via manual entry and data scrapping. As such, there are many inevitable errors such as typo errors, data redundancy and inconsistency for both text and image assets. This is likely going to be a recurring problem.

The data team is constantly overloaded with ad-hoc error and bugs fixes request from various departments. There is also a number of duplicated reports as there is no way to check what has been reported and the status of the fixes.

The Proposal

To ease the workload from the data team, I propose that we decentralise the task of error reporting/correction by crowdsourcing it internally. Essentially, everyone within the organisation can:

  • Flag out data inconsistency and discrepancy

  • Correct simple data entry mistakes

  • Report system bugs

  • Tag and retag images

  • Have visibility on the status of all backlog error reports

Report Text Error

1. Highlight text error​

  • Highlight (tap and hold for mobile) text error.

2. Select type of error​

  • Select the type of error from the pop-up menu. 

​

3. Case number for tracking​

  • Case ID number is allocated to every error reported.

  • User name, time and date of report is embedded to each case file, visible to all users

​

4. Input error details​

  • Provide details to help the data team to understand the case better.

​

5. Image reference

  • Upload image, or screenshot

  • Right click (tap & hold for mobile) on image to report

  • Select the type of error from the pop-up menu.
